Recently Mark told the whole World about how he came to know about this temple. It was Steve Jobs of Apple who came here in the 1970s when he was a college student. Mark himself visited the ashram during the early days of Facebook. Steve was his mentor and he told him to visit so that he can see the light and take proper decisions as to how he can take his business, his career forward in the right direction.

Kainchi Dham Ashram is situated in the state of Uttarakhand. During the years this place has attracted many tech giants from the silicon valley which includes Google, Apple and eBay. Thanks to Zuckerberg, this place has got immense popularity now. The magic of Facebook? Quite possible.

Do you know that this is also called as the ‘Zuckerberg Temple’ now by people because of the popularity he has brought to the temple by visiting it a multiple times.

There are hundreds of ashrams and spiritual places all over India and people from Western countries like the USA have time and again visited such places since ages.

But why do these American Tech Giants visit this particular ashram? What’s the mystery behind it? And not that, they visit it quite often. Besides Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg, people like Larry Page from Google and Jeffrey Skoll the co-founder of eBay too have made their pilgrimage to this place.

Larry Brilliant who became the head of philanthropy division at Google, used to live here once. Yes that’s true. This is what he says, “Everybody in the world wants to go and see this place. It’s a combination of ‘Eat, Pray and Love,’ know yourself and then change the world.” How lovely, isn’t it!

The Kainchi Ashram mainly consists of three main temples. Besides this there are a few offices and simple living quarters that are alongside the small tributary of the Kosi river. The daily routine – Prayers in the morning and the evening along with communal meals which consists of lentils, potatoes and rice. The Devotees help around the temple compound, meditate or socialize. The place is quite and heavenly.

This place is where you can learn to meditate, appreciate the love of God and other things which you always took for granted. That is the reason everyone believes that their life and their business will flourish and become great once they spend their time here, live here.

There is a small temple dedicated to Neem Karoli Baba, who started this ashram. Inside the temple there is a life size statue of the holy man.

The ashram closes during the winters and is much quieter as a handful of people stay during this period.
